Original question:
I have fitted a child with the Starband for brachycephaly. His mother called to say the back of head started swelling when he had built up time to wearing the orthosis all night. She is afraid to let him wear it long enough for me to see what the swelling looks like. He is susceptible to dermatitis and has been using an ointment to treat prior to using the orthosis. There is also continuous redness on either side of the void in the orthosis that will allow the brachychephaly to correct.
I spoke to Deanna Fish with Orthomerica who said they have not seen that a complication of using the Starband.
Has anyone who has a lot of experience with cranial orthoses seen a similar problem.
