I am currently seeing a 15 year old boy with the Dx. of bilateral tarsal coalition. He is 9 months status post bar resection of the right foot. The Rx. is for bilateral foot orthotics. He is 6' 5 and 275lbs and active in sports, obviously football being the main activity.
My minor question is: Any advice/experience in making an accommodative, yet, durable pair of foot orthotics for someone this size? Maybe carbon graphite embedded into crepe or XPE with a pelite top cover? Rigid FO's have failed, Amfit's don't go that big.
Major question: Since he wears size 22, yes 22 shoes, the family is having a great deal of trouble finding shoes. He's been on local TV and one of our local pro basketball players donated 2 pair of used shoes but this probably won't happen again. Any leads on a shoe supplier that does or could manufacture shoes of this size would be appreciated.
