Thank you.

I am a 75 y.0. male, an AK of 8 years walking very comfortably until a
recent burgeoning of arthritis in my lumbar spine. At about the same
time the pre-existing perineal lesions became acutely painful.
I am seeking info about how other AKs have dealt with cysts and/or
ingrown hairs in the perineum which interfere with the use of their
prostheses. This is both a medical problem as well as a matter of
fitting. I have been off the limb for more than three weeks with slow
shrinking of these foci, and then an additional four days on Keflex (for
another problem) which quickly shrank them to almost nothing. But then
going back to the limb for only two days these cysts (or whatever)
quickly became prominent (but not yet painful). One suggestion is
surgical removal and I ask, in order to get best closure to minimize
fitting problems re scar, should I go to a plastic surgeon or a
dermatologist? Looking at a solution through fitting only, my
prosthetist says that adequate relief in that area will probably
compromise suction suspension.

Many thanks for your suggestions.
