NY MMIS changes

This message is intended for practitioners in NY.
As per MMIS new rate schedule, certain L-codes that were traditionally
non-billable on MMIS schedule, such as L5950 (ultralight material), or codes
that required PA, such as L5980 (FlexFoot), or even L5987 (FlexFoot with
Vertical Shock Absorber), now do not require any prior approval. Has anybody
had any experience already in getting reimbursed for these procedures? I tend
to think, that even though one does not have to request PA, codes like that
will get denied as not medically necessary in most if not all cases. And the
reason MMIS did that, may be to cut down on their paper work, processing PA
requests.
I would appreciate any comments or opinions in this regard. Do not reply to
this message privately, but rather post on the List, as I'd like share this
knowledge with all interested parties of our virtual community.
