Dear oandp-l'ers,
I wanted to thank everyone who made it to our meeting in Dallas for
attending, it was great to connect faces to the names and email addresses of
people! Special thanks to those who attended from out of the US, I hope
that it was an enjoyable experience overall for you.
For those who were not at the gathering, there were two important
announcements that were made regarding the development of some excellent
resources that are now freely available online.
First, the LOGS of oandp-l are now accessible though a searchable interface
that provides you with access to almost all of the past discussions of
oandp-l. There are literally thousands of messages that can be searched,
viewed, printed, sent as e-mail to colleagues, etc.
Secondly, another one of our long term projects has been the digitization
and reformatting of professional journals. Over the last two years we have
been working on digitizing 28 years Journal of the Association of Children's
Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinics (JACPOC). I am proud to say that we have
completed 10 years of this project, and they are all online for your viewing
pleasure. This task is not a simple one, and we are dedicated to developing
online references that are more than just static copies of the pages
online. These references are and will be full text searchable, dynamic
resources that are designed for future integration with the many new
vehicles of content delivery and internet interaction that will undoubtedly
be a part of our future. For example, one day you will be able to access
years of O&P journals from a wireless handheld device while attending a
clinic or while at a remote clinical location. The technology is here, and
these references are being developed with that in mind. These are exciting
times for us technology folks!
And don't forget the JPO Library from the Academy! Every issue in full text
online, and current year in the members only section of the Academy website!
There are three ways that these resources can be accessed.
oandp-l logs: <URL Redacted>
JACPOC Library: <URL Redacted>
JPO Library: <URL Redacted>
Or you can search them ALL at once, as well as access thousands of pages of
other specific O&P information by using the SEARCH BOX at the top of
oandp.com at http://www.oandp.com .
I'll keep everyone informed of new progress in this area. I am always open
to comments and suggestions, as well as any bug reports. If you ever find a
typo, or unrecognizable characters, etc, in any of the journals , please let
me know so that they can be fixed immediately!
Enjoy the resources!
