Description

Title:

Florida Senate Bill 962

Creator:

Gingras, Ron

Date:

Text:

Senate Bill 962 was soundly defeated in the Florida Senate health care
committee on Wednseday. This bill was introduced by Senator Alex Diaz De La
Portilla Miami (R). If it had passed, this bill would have allowed 40 or so
persons who had met the 5 year experiential requirement for grandfathering,
but who have not been able to successfully pass the only approved state
licensure exam (ABC exam) to substitute another exam, the (BOC exam) to
become licensed. A compromise amendment offered by one of the senators and
supported by the FAOP, was introduced and passed unanimously, allowing 2
more years for these individuals to study and prepare to pass the minimal
standards state approved exam.
Two weeks ago the House version of this bill HB87also passed through with a
similar amendment allowing these individuals an additional two years to take
the state exam.
