Since many of you have asked the source of the Barr Foundation's amputee statistics, below is where they did cometh!
I am glad so many found the information helpful.
Some have asked for further break downs by level of amputation and children,men,women,etc.
You may want to check with the below organizations for that information:
1) ACA and the National Limb Loss Information Center www.amputee-coalition.org
The NLLIC serves as a information clearinghouse to provide comprehensive resources for people with limb loss and health care professionals. It is federally funded (with your $$) thru the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
