Hi Everyone
We are at it again; I thought I would explain the complete idea of the AFO
Cook Off Contest.
During the July Flexible Stability course R-Wrap AFO(c) I discuss the
following idea with Billie Cusick and others at the course, and they were
enthusiastic about the idea.
This would be just like a chili cook off contest or a wine tasting contest,
where people or companies would make AFO's for more than one person and then
be judged, by experts, patients, and audience.
We have many articles that tell us what AFO are the best, different problems
and patients, the last article in APTA Journal between DAFO's and Rigid
AFO's from Shiners Hospital. The following article just rips that study
apart. <URL Redacted>
The ideas
* Have it at a National Meeting
* Take five days to complete
* An entry fee of 1000.00 to pay for expenses and prize moneys
* Have a pool of patients with different diagnoses that will be selected
randomly
* Have this a blind contest were the patients has a different person
delivering than the person that did the evaluation and casting
* Get patients from that area that can't afford devices
* Get publicity by donating the AFO's that the patients chooses
* Videos tape the results and show at the end of the meeting
* Have nearby facility donate some space to do the work, make sure the
facility gets PR
* Have entrants give 10 minutes presentations at the end of meeting to give
findings and results for the specific patient
