ORIGINAL POST:

What L codes are successfully being used when tone reduction modifications
are incorporated into AFOs? Should I assume that these procedures are not
covered by Medicare?
I will post responses. Put your name in parentheses if you don't want your
name included. Thanks!

Why would you like to charge for that? You have to modify the mold either
way. It's
not any more work to do tone reducing over slab sided modifications. I have
found tone reducing to be the same as fitting the foot. In the end you will
spend less time and money on the back side because of the better fit and
containment of the foot. If that argument does not work then you're left with
no codes to bill for that procedure anyway. Just make sure you use all the
codes you can. (such as charging for padding if you us it)

I would love to hear if you have a method. I don't believe the Lcode
committee approved it.
