Dear Esteemed Colleagues:
Who among you has had experience working with hemi-corporectomies? I
received a call from a PM&R, MD, asking for any and all information regarding
fitting options and case histories.
The patient: A 19 year old male, former high school wrestler, presently
a bilateral, hemi-pelvectomy/hip disarticulation, who now has one
hemi-pelvis, but will most likely lose that within the week. Amputations are
due to infarction.
Patient is a pharmacology student, and Dr. is wondering about socket
fitting for seating at this time, but apparently, this young man wants to
also know about socket fittings for prosthetic replacements for standing
(walking?). Dr. has already searched the Internet and found nothing. I told
him I would put out a request through this list-serve in hopes that someone
may have some experience with this type of challenge. Any information
relating to hemi-corporectomies would be helpful and will be most appreciated.

Thank you,
