I recently put a post online reguarding recent Hanger layoffs. There were
basically three catagories of responses.
1) verification from different areas accross the country
2) several responses from within Hanger requesting that I not pass on the
info provided by them
3) Many people sending job offers for those out of work (not included)
4) the official Hanger line, which had two parts.
a)Yes we are restructureing
b) Anybody we deemed qualified was offered a new possition elsewhere.
I have included the Hanger responses. The first one is reguarding the
layoffs in general. The second one is a response to a post reguarding the
layoffs in Oregon specifically. It should be noted that as far as I know
there have been at least 6 practitioners layed off or fired and only 1 has
been offered a transfer.
I can assure you that there is not a wholesale lay off of Hanger employees.
We have almost 1000 certifies nation wide. All business routinely evaluate
the performance of there business (offices). There are times the amount of
business done does not correlate with the number of people there. In most
cases we offer transfers. We always have opening somewhere. We care a great
deal for our employees, we are all part of a family.

I was speaking to a friend of mine in Oregon around Christmas and he told be
he was losing his job because of downsizing. Hangers stock has dropped
significantly.

This kind of thing is happening in a lot of industries right now. Singling
out Hanger (I am not a Hanger friend or foe) is unfair when they are
struggling to remain profitable as we all are. The economy is not as great
as we have been led to believe.

Hi Forest,
I can't fill you in on what's happening nationwide but there were layoffs in
PA. I can only tell you what I was told. They said they have other offices
in the area.
