I have been asked by the moderator to move future discussion of this topic
to: <URL Redacted>
I did receive some posts clearly critical of the questions about NOMA
even being raised on the list. Of course this format leaves open the risk
that false or uninformed information may be posted. In this case, I heard
negative rumors and thought that opening it to the list would elicit
discussion, giving an opportunity for facts to come out. (It is obvious that
some would prefer that things be kept quiet.) Another option would have been
for a bunch of private clandestine E mailings to go around which I think is
more insidious.
Thanks to all who contributed to this discussion. I encourage everyone to
make your own decisions, hopefully based on facts and not rumors.
I invite suggestions on how sensitive topics should best be broached in
the future. I will post the responses.

Here are some more responses:
OPTEC, inc., which is a central fabricator of orthotics, is not a member and
is no way affiliated with NOMA. Dan Suarez, President
Euro International, Inc. is not a member of N.O.M.A. Please feel free to post
us as a non-member. Thank you.
Dirk Schulte
Ortho-Bio-Med.llc a globally active consulting company in O&P and rehab is
not member of NOMA.
Don't even know who they are.
Wieland Kaphingst, Executive Manager, ortho-bio-med.llc
Orthomerica Products, Inc. is not a member of NOMA since we terminated our
relationship with NOMA in September of 1999. In our termination letter to
NOMA, Orthomerica stated It has become apparent that we became a dissenting
voice as to how to proceed with establishing a working relationship with
AOPA. Orthomerica does not have any information regarding present NOMA
membership or legislative initiatives.
It is obvious that many of you do not have your facts straight and are now
on a witch hunt. Pointing fingers and making false accusations without a
shread of evidence can do a lot of harm. Generation II USA is not a member
of NOMA but is a member of AOPA. We have always supported the O&P community
whenever possible. We put on workshops and seminars at AOPA and AAOP. We
spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on research supporting peer reviewed
clinical studies involving CUSTOM OA KNEE BRACING. We lobby HCFA, DMERCS and
any insurance company trying to take a position against CUSTOM KNEE BRACING.
Who do you think applied for the 1st CUSTOM single upright hinge knee brace
L-Code and trademarked the Unloader name? In our sales meetings and in our
training manuals we ask that our distributors support the O&P community.
(our distributors are independent contractors and a few do their own billing
but we still insist they support you.) I have worked too hard at keeping my
company's reputation clean and will fight to keep it that way! Not all knee
brace companies belong to NOMA but with inuendo like this it won't be long
until we do.GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!
