Hi All
I'm a Canadian CO in a smaller town. Our local hospitals are receiving more
and more patients from the big cities earlier than they ever have. When
clients require bracing I get the call. When they arrive WITH bracing,
follow up usually isn't maintained by the dispensing Orthotist. This is
primarily due to the fact that I haven't dispensed the device, and often
times don't even know the patient exists. Only when there are very, very
obvious problems am I called. I have just proposed to the hospital rehab
department head that I should provide care for clients who arrive with
bracing to make sure that the orthoses are fit and functioning as they
should. How many times have you seen a device that is not on properly etc.
which hampers healing. Anyway, I'm wondering what such an inpatient visit
should cost. This assumes a simple visit, adjustments to the existing
device, nothing replaced or modified requiring extra parts etc. The visit
would probably last about 20 to 30 min.
Any ideas?
TIA.
