Dear List;
I have not seen it mentioned on the list since the AOPA National AOPA Assembly but the Vendor exhibits there were marvelous. I was impressed with the R&D that has gone on and I saw many well designed devices in all manner of materials. There were new technologies being demonstrated that have the potential to revolutionize prosthetics as many of you who attended were aware. However, the sheer volume of manufactured parts and components displayed by so many vendors from around the world was heartening. The testing and design work going into these products is expensive, but allows a much better pricing structure and helps to ensure that patients and clients get the most up to date products. It appears that competition has been stimulating and effective. The cost savings can now be passed on to the providers, practitioners, and clients of O&P. I'm sure we all appreciate the talent and investment that enables O&P to keep up with technological development. I could only suggest one thing and that would be to improve on the standardization of pylon sizes, adaptors, and fastener specifications. At any rate, the array of well-designed prosthetic and orthotic offerings to the O&P field was staggering.
Thanks one and all for the great exhibits!
