Original Post:
Does anyone know of a fiberglass wrap that does not require special gloves
that will conform as well as deltalite conformable?
thank you to those who responded. Here are the answers I received:
EBI SynthoCast casting tape. Contact EBI Sports Medicine at 800-526-2579
Royce Medical has a casting material called Techform. Call (800) 521-0601
speak to Rick at ext. 5078.
It can be used with standard exam gloves and takes an exceptional
impression.
try Caraglass from Deroyal. Just latex gloves is fine to use with it. It's
a good product.
3M has a new polyester casting material product that is very similar to
Deltalite comformable. * and you can use regular gloves.
M-Pact OCL casting tape is what you are looking for...available through most
of the P & O distributors.
We use a 3M Scotch Fiberglass Casting Tape. We do not need to use the blue
gloves. Works great, and in fact, it is used in the local Orthopedic clinic
for all fracture casting.
Try Caraglas Ultra from Carapace. We've used it exclusively for about five
years. We use any regular latex or synthetic gloves. I've tried all types
through our orthopedic clinic and this is the best by far.
delta lite is the only fiberglass on the market requiring gloves, try
3m,impact,or carapace.
the product that is sold by Royce medical is as good as it gets for non
glove specific product. It is economical (they will match your price and
dicker some), has more product per roll than most others but, it is not
quite as conformable as Deltalite. I have used seven different products at
length and nothing beats Deltalite for performance yet. Nothing beats it
for expense either! Good luck.
I've used Royce Medical's fiberglass. It is not as comformable, but is not
too bad, and can be used with standard gloves. For me, that advantage makes
up for the inferior wrapping characteristics in most applications.
I was informed by a J&J rep that special gloves are not required. She said
to use gloves with a little liquid soap on them, and it would not affect the
integrity of the cast. Give it a try, and let me know how it works for you.
I use the same gloves with all the different types of casting tape. You
don't need any special gloves. Use latex or the non-latex as you would
use with plaster.
