Gary & O&P Listers,
I am also BK amputee from Chennai India, I know Congenitals are not
considered to be Amputees, but known as limb deficient, because mostly they get
automatically adapted or they do not suffer phantom pains or trauma.
But that was not my case, instead I had restricted mobility with my bulky
ill fitted prosthesis, often bleed from lacerated skin, rubbing against
metal knee joints that had supported the thigh corset. To make matter worse
I was advised to undergo corrective surgery for my odd shaped stump from the
qualified in this field here and from abroad.
Finally due to necessity and compulsion, I myself innovated my own
prosthesis precisely aligning and designing a unique articulating prosthetic
foot, that solved my myths, earlier had wasted a large part of my life in
pains, thus bringing designs into practical existence and utility, I am perfectly active
can Walk Jump Run for the past four years. Further I am not proud of my
talents or disrespects the Qualified/Experienced, but to make aware that in
this world where time is money we sometimes loose professionalism, inspite
of using the finest components available on shelf or to be custom designed.
If people who run road races and marathons in wheelchairs are capable in
designing wheelchairs from aircraft metals, the same is applicable for
trans-tibial amputee/s towards a practical designed foot that may beneficial
to both AK & BKs, if the practical device/transitional process is recognized
from competent authority for the benefit of masses in need.
Best Regards
