Dear Rick, the Barr Foundation would appreciate receiving the prosthetic
devices you are referring to in your below inquiry specifically
for our third world efforts further described at our web site at
www.oandp.com/barr
Dollar donations are also gratefully received and will be receipted with our
federal tax ID #.
However, we would require that the sockets be removed and the component
parts
be dismantled and securely packaged prior to shipping.
We have found from experience, if the sockets are removed and discarded and
the components withstand dismantlement, they most likely can be reused in
our foreign country assistance programs.
When in doubt of reusable condition for reapplication ,do not send!
All good condition stump socks, sheaths, shrinkers can be toughly washed and
reused.
Presently we provide prosthetic rehabilitation assistance programs with
Rotary Clubs in Guyana, South America and Honduras,Central America as well
as domestically thru
USA sponsoring prosthetists (over 500 amputeess sponsored by 70 prosthetists
to date!)
see www.oandp.com/resources/organizations/barr/list.htm
We also accommodate other legitimate non profits requests in donating
selected components to their specific efforts.
We would be happy to reimburse you for reasonable shipping costs incurred
upon delivery and provide you with our fed tax ID# so that you may donate
your labor or $$ donations for tax purposes.
The donors may determine, thru their tax accountants, if there are possible
tax benefits for their
donations. However, more importantly, I can assure you that any amputee that
we use the components for will not be charged any fees whatsoever.
If you have any additional questions or concerns please don't hesitate to
contact
