Our organization has been recieving new and used components for some time.
The question of the amount of deductability as a donation is best determine
between the donor and qualified professional to answer, the donor's tax
accountant.
As the 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization recipient of the donation, it is not
the responsibility for our organization to determine the donation expense
of any like kind contributions.
Reasonable and accurate records of cost and value of donated items must be
documented by the donor be it a indivisual or corporate.
Dollar donations obviously have determine value which we must report
annually.
Hope this information has been helpfull.
Simply put check with your certified/licensed tax accountant for tax
deductability/donation information and see a certified or licensed
prosthetist for a prosthesis. The odds are better that you will recieve more
accurate advice!!
