Title:
URGENT: adherent scaring - 2nd try
Text:
I am working with two heavyset elderly gentlemen that are transtibial PVD
amputees. Both are recent amputees and both have adherent scaring about
10-20cm in diameter on the tibial crest. The skin in these areas is fragile
and easily damaged. One is wearing a TEC liner the other was in a hard
socket with 10 ply, but now is being fit with a TEC liner. Suspension is by
Silipos sleeve. It would appear that skin traction during ambulating is
causing the skin to be damaged. Good suspension without pistoning also seems
a bit hard to achieve even when an expulsion valve is used.
How have others managed these types of cases?
