Full-time, continuing position

This position attracts a remuneration package of AU$56,877 to
AU$67,542 (Lecturer, Level B) and AU$69,672 to AU$80,339 (Senior
Lecturer, Level C) per annum, which includes 17% employer
superannuation.
Background:
The National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics is a department
within the School of Human Biosciences, a multi- disciplinary school
within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The School also includes the
Department of Physiology and Anatomy and the Department of Podiatry.
The Centre provides the only university, undergraduate course in
prosthetics and orthotics in Australasia and provides a national
focus for professional development and research in prosthetics and
orthotics. The Centre offers a 3 1/2 year degree, a 4 year honours
degree and a higher degrees program. Research interests within the
Centre include biomechanics of normal and pathological gait, computer
simulation of amputee gait, orthotic management of Rheumatoid
Arthritis, service delivery to rural and remote populations, cultural
aspects of service delivery to indigenous populations, and computer
aided design and manufacture of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
Primary Objectives:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide lectures, clinical
teaching and laboratory supervision in undergraduate subjects in the
Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics and to assess clinical
performance, laboratory projects, oral presentations, assignments and
examinations of students. The successful applicant will also be
expected to attract research funding and undertake research and to
supervise honours and higher degree student research projects. The
successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the
development and provision of clinical services through the La Trobe
University Health Sciences Clinic.
If an appointment is made at the Senior Lecturer Level, it is
expected that the successful candidate would become the head of
department in the near future.
