Joe and everyone else,
I am posting this directly to the list because if Mr. Carideo is
unsubscribed, he would not be able to post replies to his message and I feel
that what follows is an important statement.
The first posting (I can not remember the author) about Mr. Panton's
nomination by Jeb Bush may have been a bit harsh...but I have not seen
anyone since that post say anything less than his being of high morals and
having a long history of involvement and leadership in the professional
organizations.
I have a great amount of respect for Mr. Panton. He was in this field long
before I was born. His experiance and contributions to our industry are
beyond what many practitioners will ever achieve.
As for Mr. Fredrick, I have seen him at board meetings. He has always
conducted himself well and his actions on the board are beyond reproach. I
have a great amount of respect for him professionally and in his position as
chair of the board.
To even suggest that Mr. Panton and Mr. Frederick would conspire to
dominate the Florida board... - I did not suggest that they would conspire
to do anything. The point I was attempting to make, and maybe I was not
clear enough with it, was that these persons both come from the same
company, same division, same area, have the same boss, same lines of
communication, and have the same company 'window' to look through to
evaluate the proper role for the board.
It is my feeling that a government body should not only avoid the
inappropriate, it should also avoid the appearace of the inappropriate.
It is a fact that Hanger has a number of unlicensed practitioners working in
Florida. It is also fact that Hanger executives were expressing rather
strong feelings about the Florida Board and licensure at the FAOP meeting at
Howie in the Hills last month.
For those that do not feel Mr. Panton is someone they would want on the
Board, they should turn to their state senator and voice those feelings.
For those that do feel Mr. Panton would be a perfect addition to the board,
you also should voice your opinion to your state senator. The state senate
must confirm the nomination.
