Dear List Members:

I am writing to ask for suggestions about an auxillary suspension method for a preganant woman with a very short ( trans-femoral ) residual limb. She currently has a suction socket ( flexible inner socket with a valve )with a Rehband suspension belt ( like a TES belt ). Due to the length of her residual limb ( 3 inches from the greater trochanter to the distal end of the femur ), and the warm climate of Greece, the belt helps suspend the prosthesis when her residual limb perspires. She regularly uses an alum stick which helps a great deal but she is fairly active and uses her prosthesis 10-12 hours per day. She is determined to continue using her prosthesis throughout her pregnancy but she is concerned about her growing tummy and the pressure from the belt.

Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and kind regards,
