Here is a quick update from last nights finals in the men's 100m for the T44
classification (T44 is transtibial level).
There was a new World Record set by Marlon Shirley (USA) last night in the
100 meter sprint!
An astounding 11.09 seconds, setting the new world record, and edging even
closer to breaking below the 11 second barrier! Thousands witnessed and
cheered from the Olympic stadium as the heated raced came to a quick finish.
Quite a spectacular performance!
Top four finishers:
Marlon Shirley (USA) 11.09 s
Brian Frasure (USA) 11.46 s
Neil Fuller (AUS) 11.65 s
Tony Volpentest (USA) 11.81 s
More Athletics/Track events will be reported on in the upcoming few days.
For comprehensive coverage of the games, be sure to visit www.wemedia.com.
They have an incredible setup out here!
If anyone wants specific updates, please let me know and I'll see what I can
do for you next time I am in the media center. I will need specific sport,
country, and participants name in order to provide any additional
information. Also, no guarantees that I'll be able to get it for you... but
I'll see what I can do.
