Title:
Client vs. Patient
Text:
Since when is being a patient demeaning? I suspect we have all been seen by
medical professionals at one time or another, hence we all have been
patients. Chances are, if you are being seen by a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, you
have a medical condition that is being treated. Try telling your doctor,
medical insurance carrier you are not a patient.
Personally, I try to treat the people that come to me as individuals that
have a choice on where to be seen, and act accordingly. As far as I am
concerned, I rather call you by your first name than any label. If you want
to be called a client, fine, let the people know who are treating you. As far
as feeling that it is a demeaning label, I think you are wrong, and I don't
think you can speak for the entire population that sees us for medically
connected work that requires a Rx.
