Dear All
Blatchfords have been supplying lower limbs prosthetic products to the
American market for 12 years. We are interested in trends relating to the
supply of lower limb prosthesis. These trends affect both manufacturers and
prosthetists. One such rumoured trend is that the proportion of AK amputees
is declining and BK amputees are increasing.
Between us, subscribers to Listserve have a vast amount of relevant
information. To be of value, however, it needs to be collated. I have
identified a number of questions relating to the types and numbers of
amputees being seen in facilities. If you are a prosthetist, I would be
grateful if you could e-mail your answers to me personally. I will then
aggregate your answers and post the results on Listserve. It will not, from
the information which I post on Listserve, be possible to identify any
individual prosthetist or facility and all information relating to a
particular facility will be treated as confidential.
The questions are:
1 How many lower limb prosthesis did your facility or group of
facilities (please specify how many facilities) supply in the first six
months of 2000?
2 How many of these limbs were BK and how many AK?
3 How many of these limbs were for primary amputees?
4 How many CPs and CPOs work in your facility or group of facilities?
5 What percentage of the work carried out at your facility or
facilities relates to (a) lower limb prosthetics, (b) upper limb
prosthetics, (c) orthotics or (d) other?
I will start collating the returns on Monday 2nd October.
If Listserve subscribers find the results of this mini-survey helpful, I
would be happy to look at extending the project.
Many thanks for your help
