I am seeking information from CO's & O&P shops on the list. How many of you
have hired Orthopedic Technologists as assistants. I know West Coast
Bracing in Tampa hired an OrthoTech 6 years ago. Were they ahead of the
curve. Is there a curve?
I worked with two orthotechs for a while 8 years ago. This information is
being compiled to see if there is a need to add Orthopedic Technologist to
the O&P license statutes in Florida.

If Orthopedic Technologists are being used as support staff or working on
their own, maybe they should be licensed. Many OT's are being used to fit
orthotics in stock & bill agreements between Manufacturer's and large
orthopedic practices. DJ Orthopedics is hiring Athletic Trainers &
OrthoTechs to do the fittings in large practices where they have agreements.
