Thought this might be of interest to our members. If you are interested in
learning more about the research study, I can fax you more details. The
Fund doesn't have anything in it's current budget set aside for research.

Subject: Paralympic Research
Julie,
Dr. Ben Johnson, the Director for the Center of Sports Medicine here at GSU
has developed a research proposal which has been approved by the Sydney
Paralympic Organizing Committee. The proposal is a biomechanics analysis of
lower extremity amputee sprinters. Dr. Johnson is working with NBC and the
Discovery Channel as a biomechanical consultant during the Sydney Olympic
Games. He needs an additional $5,000-$7,000 to cover the expenses of the
Paralympic study, which is a continuation of a study started in 1996 and
continued in 1998 @ the Flex Foot Invitational.
He is willing to share the research findings with a sponsor and also is
willing to develop biomechanic graphics that can be used on websites to
document various aspects of lower amputee running techniques.
Julie, please contact me early next week and we can discuss whether there
may be any takers out there.
Hopefully all is well. I enjoyed getting to spend some time with you, Todd
and Dennis at the Seminar. Your participation was greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Mike
