Dear Stoney Sherrill, C.O.,L.
The Duke Wyre Orthosis I'm familiar with is made by C.D.Denison.
In fact it's called the C.D. Denison-Duke Wyre shoulder vest.
The company used to be located at; Denison Orthotics, Inc.
220 West 28th Street
Baltimore, MD. 21211
Ph: (301) 235-9645
It's some what different from your description. It has a heavy canvas
vest section attached to humeral section. Lacing between the two section
limits abduction.
It works in a crude fashion. One word of caution. The canvas is unbleached
and therefore WILL shrink!
Hope this helps.

Members,
A rodeo steer-wrestling patient referred to our facility requires a Duke
Wire Orthosis per Rx. Pt. went to Dr. specifically for the purpose of
obtaining a Rx for a shoulder orthosis that would prevent his right shoulder
from abducting beyond 90 degrees. His Dr. informed him that Duke University
had such an animal that used a length of wire or cable attached between an
arm cuff and either a band around his chest at xiphoid level or at his
waist.
I have not located a design for this device and will probably reinvent one
in-house. Any experience or suggestions would be appreciated.
