Hello again:
I'd like to bring to the attention of this list a matter that arose
via private e-mail a few weeks back. I have delayed bringing this
issue up on the OandP until all the facts were verified and
authenticated.
On June 13 I received the following via private email....

Ladies/gentlemen:
I'm a gay (GWM) apotemnophile wannabe/acrotomophile/devotee/pretender
-- the works !
I'm in New York City and would love to network with other males on
any of these grounds -- especially if they are in easy travel
distance from here.
I'm also happy to subscribe to anything you suggest for me.
Amputationally, I'm into fingers and legs. Professionally, I'm a
surgeon, but not for limbs (knowing this proclivity in myself, I was
afraid to trust myself with other people's limbs lest I ever --God
forbid -- amputate anyone unnecessarily). I'm also a classical
keyboardist of professional caliber.
Naturally, I'd like to work in with other professionals, but any
good, down-to-earth maleadult of any age person would suit me fine.
Thanks for reading this message and I hope you can help me. I only
recently found out that there are others in this world who dream
about amputations with lust and desire. Please let me be, at least,
a devotee or a fellow pretender, or satisfy my acrotomophile side --
until I can obtain a legitimate major amputation for myself (my right
leg, mid-thigh).
Many, many thanks for a sympathetic ear.
Hampson a. Sisler, M.D.
e-mail: <mailto:<Email Address Redacted>> <Email Address Redacted>
P.S. Hopefully, you are not down on amputee devotees and wannabes.
We really are good people and we suffer a lot of internal grief over
it. Like homosexuality, it isn't anything we ever wanted to be but
we were so endowed and have to live with it. Please do not hate us!
And, please keep my personal identity strictly private. I trust you
with my true name and whereabouts. As I said, as much as I would
have loved to work on limbs, I forbad myself the desire lest I ever
abuse it. I operate only above the neck.

------------------------------
Regardless of your opinion of devotees, wannabees or myself
personally, you have to agree that such a medical professional should
not be allowed access to an outpatient clinic or prosthetic facility,
using his credentials to satisfy his sexual urges and obvious
psychological instability.
In the discourse following Dr Sisler informed me he had made a
donation to a local prosthetic facility and I should not bite the
hand that feeds.
I alerted the authorities in the New York area of which the following
resulted....
The facility sent me the following...
He is a practicing Opthalmologist in lower Manhattan, New York. A
few weeks ago, he called the outpatient clinic and offered to pay for
a prosthesis for an uninsured young man who lost his leg below the
knee. Because of his credentials and his charming, 'Mr. Rogers' type
demure, he was initially permitted to sit in on a few clinics in order
'to learn more about amputations' since he claimed this was a new
interest. He gave the hospital a check for $10,000 provided they
would tell the amputee that he was the man who provided the money and
allow them to meet. Due to hospital policy regarding
confidentiality, the money has not been accepted and the man has been
barred from entering the hospital ever again. And yes, the hospital
did learn of his 'secret identity'.
-------------------------------
The hospital is now in the process of alerting other Manhattan and
New York's prosthetic facilities as to the presence of Dr Hampton
Sisler. The ACA has also been alerted and is in the process of
contacting their chapters and support groups in the area.
Recognising that some on this list maybe sympathetic to either a. a
fellow medical professional or b. a fellow wannabee/devotee - I
strongly encourage you to analyse the facts presented and evaluate
your own morality on this issue.
Groups like the ACA, and your own professional organisations have
traditionally taken a relaxed view on issues such as these, I'm not
going to get in to why. However, now we have a pervert out in the
open and for all to see. It is up to the rest of you who are less
sympathetic to stand up and make sure measures are put in place to
stop this kind of abuse taking place.
