Posterior Leaf Spring AFO

Text:
I am working with a very active 13 year old with bilateral foot drop, tight
heel cords and pronation. I currently have him in posterior Leaf Spring
AFO's and he tends to crack one approximately every 3 months. I had him in
articulating AFO's before without any problems but this tended to interfere
with his activity level in sports.
I would appreciate any suggestions for designs, or materials to strengthen
this style of orthosis.
Thank you,
