What about the discussion of whether this would be a good thing for the
industry?
What can be done to try to stop or limit this, besides the obvious writing
or speaking with your elected officials?
Lets hear some discussion on this for a while.

Great idea Kevin! No bashing!Constructive dialoge.Lets try this again!

It is my understanding that this federal proposal is being tested in two
regulated states,Texas and Florida, for orthotics.
Can someone determine whether all the providers paricipating will be
required to be licensed to bid on custom O&P services?

What position has AOPA ,the Academy,ABC and BOC taken on the Medicare
competitive bidding proposal?
Surely you professional, trade and certification associations would be most
interested in representing the majority of their membership!

My understanding is that AOPA was delegated the responsibility, by the
Academy, to be the federal government liason for establishing provider's
educational quidelines for the proposed federal regulation.
What are their official positions regarding this proposal?

For anyone interested past two time Academy president, NAAOP director John
Billock,NAAOP Executive counsel Peter Thomas and others had some interesting
things to say in opposition to the Medicare Competitive Bidding proposal.
See www.oandp.com /resources/organizations/naaop/com

It is a terrific O&P site to become educated on the O&P Medicare Competitive
Bidding proposal and provides direction to advocate for or against it.
