Members, I was advised today by our Ombudsman at Region A that devices
(custom or prefab) (i.e. Ultraflex) used to treat contractures must be coded
and billed as rental under the appropriate E code. This is not just for the
knee joint but the entire device. Use of the L2999 or any other L code would
be deemed fraudelant. Is everyone aware of this???? Is everyone renting out
their Ultraflex knee braces???? I've asked for clarification from
National. Any input would be greatly appreciated. (PS claims are already
being offset).
