On the contrary, we would state that fleshy residual limbs as you describe
are a clear indication for this type of fitting. However you need to chose
an interface that has a good stabilising matrix to minimise longitudinal
stretch. In this respect, by displacing the interface distally and casting
like this, you will have managed to stabilised the soft tissues without the
need for the socket to be tight. Choice of interface is crucial here.
Additionally, you may then need to consider your choice of lock as you need
to make sure you get the residual limb back into the form you cast at. A
regular 'push' pin socket lock may not be the answer, as it's difficult to
push those soft tissues around. I would try one of the wind-in locks. If
the liner/residual limb isn't fully into the socket, then something isn't
as it should be!

Hope this helps.
