Hello everyone,
Just a quick update on OANDP-L.
1. Virus update
2. Quality of discussions
3. Signatures on postings
4. Summarizing responses
5. Number of subscribers
1. Virus- I am sorry about the happy virus that snuck through the gate
earlier this week. The settings were changed to allow a larger message to
get through, and I mistakenly forgot to shut the gate behind after the
message was posted. Doh!
2. Quality of discussions- I have gotten a lot of very positive comments
lately about the increase in clinically focused discussions. A lot less
people have been leaving the list, and a lot more have been joining. Let's
continue to elevate the level of discussions, and keep the chatter down to a
minimum. It has been noticed and very much appreciated by many.
3. Signing postings- Regarding names, credentials, and affiliations.....
OANDP-L is not an anonymous bulletin board. When posting questions or
comments to the list, please include your name, credentials, and possibly
company or organizational affiliation so that others know who you are and
what your background is. By providing this information, you will be more
likely to receive higher quality responses that are better geared to your
needs. It is also nice for people to know who they are speaking to.
4. Summary of responses- Regarding posting of responses.... An email was
sent to me earlier this week expressing a very valid concern that
information is not being shared appropriately on the list. The following is
the letter: (name has been withheld)
I am a prosthetic resident. I signed up on the list serve so that I would
be exposed to different ideas concerning prosthetics and
continue the learning process with input from more experienced
prosthetists. The problem has been that there have been many
interesting questions posted but many times the answers are not posted.
If the entire community is to benefit from shared knowledge then the
knowledge must be shared.
I am sure that many of you agree with this individual's concerns. In order
to make this forum a valuable system for everyone, the posting of response
summaries is very strongly encouraged/expected. If you do not know how to
create and post a summary, please feel free to contact me and I will explain
the process. It is quite simply cutting and pasting responses into a new
email message and then sending that message to the list.
5. Number of subscribers- Our subscription base is growing rapidly. My
goal is to hit 2000 users in the year 2000. We are almost there! The value
of the system increases with the more minds that we have connected! There
will be a prize given to the 2000'th subscriber, and if number 2000 is a
practitioner who was referred to oandp-l by an Academy member, the referring
practitioner will also receive a prize. Rewards will only be awarded to
first time subscribers.
That's it for now! If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel
free to contact me directly at <Email Address Redacted>
