The following is a message from World T.E.A.M. Sports as they start their
next big journey this weekend. Two teams of individuals from diverse
backgrounds will leave from separate coasts (San Francisco and Boston) on
May 13th. They will bicycle, skate and rn across the country for 22 days
and meet under the arch in St. Louis. It may be interesting for you and/or
some of your clients/patients to chat with the participants along the way.
Face of America - An Invitation to Chat
World T.E.A.M. Sports extends to you an invitation to join us on-line in a
special chat session this Sunday evening. As friends, sponsors and
supporters of our work, we hope you might participate by logging-in to the
session. Please feel free to forward this invitation to others who might be
interested, as well.
On Sunday night, May 14th, from 8:00 - 9:00 PM (EST), World T.E.A.M. Sports
will conduct the first live internet chat session of the Face of America.
Several live, scheduled chats will be conducted throughout the twenty-two
days of the Face of America as a component of the educational outreach
program. The chats will give Americans the opportunity to interact with our
nation's top sports professionals, athletes, advocates and industry leaders
in a real-time public forum and participate in discussions on a variety of
issues and topics. Brian C. Halpern, M.D., one of our nation's finest
sports
medicine doctors, will lead the first session.
Dr. Brian Halpern is the Medical Director of Athlete's Choice at the
Hospital
for Special Surgery in New York. He is the President of the American
Medical
Society for Sports Medicine and a team physician for the New York Mets. He
was the team doctor for AXA World Ride '95, the medical director of the
Vietnam Challenge and is now the medical director of the Face of America.
He
will answer questions from Hartford, CT, where he is serving as the Face of
America's East Coast Team Physician.
Dr. Halpern will be available to answers questions on a variety of topics
including common injuries to athletes (including athletes with
disabilities),
effective treatments and preventive steps that can be taken by athletes to
avoid future and/or repeated injury, etc. Dr. Halpern is also willing to
respond to any sports medicine or question you might have, no matter how
specific or general.
To log-in to the chat, please visit www.faceofamerica.org and follow the
prompts to the chat session. These sessions are free and open to the
public.
We hope you will choose to join us and hope you will pass this note along
to
a friend or colleague, as well.
We look forward to your participation on Sunday evening.
