Dear Collegues,

I fitted an infant with a custom-made helmet for plagiocephaly several weeks
ago. His mother brought him back yesterday for helmet adjustments. She
informed me that after about a week of initially wearing his helmet he had
developed very bad dermatitis - apparently his head looked like it had been
burnt all over! His parents were not aware that he had dermatitis until
this occured.

I suspect the dermatitis is primarily a reaction to the heat or his own
perspiration. Has anyone had experience with this problem? Have you found
any liner materials which reduce a dermatitis-type reaction?

Due to growth I am starting again with a new head-cast on 31st May so I
would appreciate any thoughts you may have as soon as possible.
