Hi all
I have a young up and coming teenage/female gymnast who has radio-lunate
impingement syndrome, unilateral. I am wondering if there are any
commercially available orthoses to limit end range extension during
floor and vault type routines. I will more than likely manufacture a
dorsal blocking type shell with a low temp plastic. I imagine they are
similar to the snowboarding/skateboarding braces.
The reason I am asking is b/c her mum found a photo of a gymnast in an
olympic journal and was wondering if they are available as a specific
type of orthosis for this activity?. If anyone has used/fitted these my
main query is How flexible or inflexible is the dorsal shell and if it
is rigid are the MCP joints at risk of hyperextension injury?.
Thankyou Ben
