My original post, followed by responses.
...... I have been using a version of MOM & POP software for about 6
years. They
say they want to upgrade the software. The upgrade is free, but
requires a contract for support of $100 per month. Outrageous. What
are other facilities using for billing software. Any suggestions?

Futura has OPS which has been a successful software for my practice for
the
last six years.
I remember the extensive research I did into all the available choices
back
then, it was clear that OPS was the best. And in my opinion, since this
is a
small market for larger organizations, I dont think that it will change
much
in this economic environment.
I would be happy to provide you with our past experiences if you are
interested. Good Luck.

medflex is the new one. The old one is medsoft. I don't know if it is
still
in use. Some of the companies I know are going to independent billing
companies.

Mr. Paul McGuire C.P.O.,
I saw your posting on the list serve and want to ask if you would
consider posting your responses or emailing me directly. I am interested
in the information you receive. Im appx 8-10 or more years from starting
a private practice. I would like to know what is currently available. Im
still searching for a residency before I graduate U.T.S.W. in May, wish
there was one in Alaska.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Robert H. Ward III

Paul,
I have been using mom and pop for about 5 years and I just changed to
medflex. for what is worth all other charge a monthly support fee
medflex is
125.oo a month. We were just lucky that mom and pop did not charge for
as
long as they did

Hanger has it's own software, that has just went into effect. There are
two
other programs available on is Medflex and the othe is from Futura. You
can
locate info on both of these at the oandp.com website under
products/software. I have look at both of them and the Medflex program
looks
like the better system. Cost is equally the same. Check it out.

Paul,
It appears all software programming is going that way, and from
everything that I have been researching-$100 a month is not out of line.
We
have just went with Futura and they also charge a monthly fee. Let me
know if
you find a software that's cheaper.

Hi Paul,
I purchased a software program called MedFlex. It is a grandchild if
you will
of something Sam Hamontree and Roy Snelson developed several years ago.
It has
gone through many upgrades and is reported to one day be based on a
Windows
type configuration.
It is simple to work with and very complete. You can do all aspects of
patient
administration including electronic billing. In terms of practice
management
it is also quite good, you can include inventory control as well as a
full
complement of business reports.
Check it out:

I believe the $100/mo. is less than we are paying for Med-flex. I am not
familiar with Mom & Pop so can't advise as to how they compare in
function
and features.
