I saw your request on the oandp list. I am a prosthetist with the Shriners
Hospital were we deal with a lot of upper limb amputees. I don't have any
written material for you to read but I can tell you from having worked with
many amputees the biggest problem is that you can not feel with the
prosthesis. Were as with the residual limb you have feeling. You can get a
feel for this by trying to do your daily activities with a heavy duty glove
on. The prosthesis is also a lot slower than what he had before. The biggest
advice I can give you and him is treat the prosthesis as a tool and use it
when he needs it. We do not have to be put in a box if we don't want to.
