Since many of you do not accept email with attachments - here is the
text without the attachment.

Does anyone have a right trautman hook that I could purchase. This
type of terminal device was discontinued many years ago. I have
included
a picture I scanned from one of the prostheses in my collection
(please note that the picture is of a LEFT Trautman Hook). The picture
is
scanned into Microsoft Word 2000. I have learned from my search
that this terminal device is somewhat of a collector's item. Some are
even kept under glass.

Please be aware that this is for a transradial amputee who has been
wearing the same prosthesis (currently 30 ply+ fit) for close to 40
years. We will be fitting him with a new prosthesis and he has
requested that we try to find a trautman hook for him.

The trautman hook is made up of three separate components - two
prehensors that have a serial number engraved on each ( note
picture) and a post that attaches to the wrist. Though I have been
told
that the hooks were individually made and components are not
interchangeable, I have learned just the opposite.

So if anyone out there has an intact right trautman hook or one or
more of the three components necessary to assemble one, please email me.

In addition, if anyone has literature on the history of this terminal
device, I would like to get a copy. Your assistance is greatly
appreciated.
