Hello List Members,

We currently have a patient in need of a new BK prosthesis. He is
approximately 440#. He has been an amputee for over 10 years. When we
originally fit him with his current prosthesis in 1991, he weighed
approximately 350#. He is currently has an exoskeletal with a soft insert,
waistband and cuff strap. He is using and Otto Bock 1D10, 28 CM Right. He
has had one foot break in the past 9 years, and so far, his prosthesis has
help up fairly well.

We are planning fitting him with a Tec Profile locking liner. He is a
limited household ambulator. We would like to build and endoskeletal system
for adjustment purposes (if possible).

I am looking of any recommendation and/or success/failures that you may have
any heavy weight patients, including:

1) Any recommendations with design and fabrication procedures for either endo
or exo (including strength and adjustment)?
2) Is possible to make an endoskeletal system to handle his weight?
3) What are recommendations for a foot?
4) What recommendations for shuttle lock (on endo or exo systems)?

Thank you in advance!
