Hello,
I am a technician in a facility in Florida. Lately, I have been asked to
fabricate a number of expanding-wall symes prostheses. These have been made
with an initial liner laminated with silicone from a given point to the
distal end.
The problem I have been having, consistently, is blocking the silicone from
progressing beyond the given point. Though this has primarily been an
aesthetic issue, there has also been a problem with it reaching a point so
proximal that it interfered with the impregnation of the acrylic lamination
required to suspend the silicone liner.
We are using 4 nylon stockinettes and have tried combinations of the
following:
-Tying cord/thread/dental floss at the desired point
-Pulling tape tight around the point
-Starving the area just previous to that point and only allowing it to ease
down in a very small amount.
-We've discussed vacuum regulation, but have not yet tried this.

Should anyone know the best method to reaching this goal, I would appreciate
advise addressed to me. I will post an email containing replies to the list.

Thank You,
