The ground work is in place for another successful mission. The Rotarian of
Freetown, Sierra Leone have committed themselves to provide all the
necessary logistical support, and any additional operational needs to
include liaison with the local and national government. The team makeup is
just outstanding, which includes two surgeons at this time.
We are projecting at this time to fit 50 amputees, believe most amputees
will be left BE.
Additionally, we are going to try to fit 3 BK leg amputees. Our project
date is sometimes in early Feb.
The Barr Foundation contributed prosthetic components for the successfull
September 1999 mission and is working with Mike Reid, Executive Director of
the World Limb Project and the U.S. State Department for subsequent missions
to Sierra Leone. TD devices and other comonents were donated by Where Hope
Meets Help Donor Club Members, Shriners Hospitals and J.E. Hanger Group.
I would be available to you to discuss in more detail over the phone or
answer any questions you may have via email if donors of prosthetic
components, practitioners or indivisual would like to be part of this
humanitarian cause for innocent victims of terrorist activities in this
region.
