Dear OANDP-L'ers,
1637
The last year has been one of the most interesting years for for both
oandp-l and
many of us individually as well. A lot of changes and events have occurred
within
the last 12 months that have literally helped shape the future of the
profession.
Although many of the debates were centered on US professional/political
issues,
those who were involved in or following the discussions were at times
challeneged
to consider professional issues which were not discussed in the text books
of O&P.
We have seen alliances and bonds created between various individuals and
organizations
to help provide prosthetic relief programs around the world. This forum has
brought
together many talented and ambitious individuals, who collectively have
forced change
in the world more rapidly and more effectively than ever thought possible.
We have
all read about and discussed various clinical and technical approaches to
tackling
the daily challenges of patient care. We have become (not necessarily by
choice) a more
politically astute group of professionals. We have also had many
opportunities to recognize
the global nature and impact of this profession. Many of us learned about
computer viruses...
Some of us learned a little more about how to use the [DELETE] key!!!!!
One year ago today we were teetering at about 750 subscribers. On February
11th of 1999,
we broke the 1000 subscriber mark. Today we have 1637. The value of this
forum
is proportional to the number of subscribers that we have. A goal of mine
is to have 2500
subscribers by the end of the year 2000. As your colleagues start to buy
their first
computers, encourage them to get on oandp-l!
As more pratitioners get involved in electronic communications, we will
begin to find
new ways to use this forum to make progress in our profession. I look
forward to
implementing some new features over the next year that will make some
significant enhancements
to the listserver. Ideas and opinions are always welcome (privately
please!).
Thanks for your continued participation, and have a happy and safe holiday
season!
By the way, oandp-l is Y2K compliant!!!
Professionally yours,
