Comments:
The Kansas Museum of History recently received a donation of an
artificial leg for its collection. I would like to find more information
about the manufacturer (where, when and by whom the leg may have
been made, etc.). The only markings are a decal on the shin: ISLE
SUPERIOR LIMB. The limb consists of a leather upper socket with laces
and adjustable straps, a chrome-plated knee hinge and a hollow, flesh-
colored plastic (?) lower leg. A sock and shoe are on the foot and I
can't remove them (the shoe leather has turned hard and I'm afraid I
may damage the foot or the shoe if I try to remove them). The owner
died in 1948, but I have been unable to determine when the limb was
made. Can you help?
Thank you,
Rick Baker
