O&P Job

Dear O&P list,
I live in Concord New Hampshire and am interested in entering the
profession of Prosthetics and Orthotics. I have called or visited almost
every O&P facility in NH and much of Massachusetts as well. I would like to
work as a technician or as an assistant but it appears that no one is hiring
in this area. I have offered to volunteer my time until I gained enough
experience to be valuable but no one seems to have time to train me.
I am in my mid-30's and have excellent work skills. I have worked with
plastics, metal, wood, and glass in the optical field and in the military. I
also received my Bachelors of Science degree in Health Care Management, June
1999. I have completed all of the prerequisite courses in order to enter an
O&P certificate program once I have the technical experience.
(I know it sounds like I just don't present myself well, but actually I
do.)
Is there something happening in the industry in my area that is affecting the
job market?
I have searched online for O&P jobs, yet have only found them New York and
south, as well as Ohio and west.
I am interested in hearing from practitioners in the Mass, NH, Vermont, and
Maine area.
Are there jobs available?
Can anyone suggest ways for me to gain experience in order to be more
noticeable and valuable to potential employers?
Please send replies to <A HREF= <Email Address Redacted> > <Email Address Redacted> </A>
Thank you in advance for your help, Tony Korjagin
