Hello List members
Has anyone heard of a new (?) group called NOMA (National Orthotic
Manufacturing Association or something close) that is supposedly lobbying
AGAINST
legislation that specifies that L codes be fit by qualified practitioners?
Does anyone know which companies are in NOMA?
Here are the replies:
Start with Camp and go on from there.
Call at Bob Van Hooks at AOPA he has met with them. They refused to identify
their membership.
I received an E-mail from Van Hooks, asking me if I was a member of
NOMA. Said it would be real bad if it got out what they were trying to do.
Said the
O&P Community would become really angry at them.
I wrote him back, said I had never even heard of NOMA. I ask him what the
big secret was, who was NOMA, and what shouldn't we find out about.
Said he couldn't tell me. It is probably something we should know about. I
think it
is a manufacturing group and they are opposing some of the wording of our
pending
legislation in D.C.
Robert Van Hooks knows !!
AOPA staff met with the attorneys (lobbyists) for NOMA to try to get at
least on the same page with them. They would not disclose who their clients
are, and
they were not receptive to cooperation with AOPA regarding lobbying efforts.
