Meet the Residents Conference

Dear Clinicians:

     You are cordially invited to the first annual Meet the Resident
Conference to be held at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
at Dallas, October 30th, 1999 from 10:00 AM to approximately 4 PM. This is
to be a networking and information exchange meeting. Robin Seabrook,
Executive Director of NCOPE, a representative from AAOP, a current Residency
Site Director, a representative from ABC and a representative from the
Prosthetics-Orthotics Program will be speaking and availavble to answer
questions. O&P standards are rising, and we would like this opportunity to
bring various levels of our profession together to see how best to integrate
the resident into the clinic.

     In addition, by bringing together residency sites and prospective
residents, we hope to provide a cost-effective and convenient way to meet and
screen residency candidates. Our goals are to provide access to information,
expedite resident and site matching and reduce the inconvenience to residency
site directors via the influx of faceless resumes.

     Enclosed is a listing of hotels located near the school that offer UT
Southwestern's negotiated rate. Lunch will be provided and tables will be
available for displays as needed. Attendees should be prepared to discuss
their residency programs. At least 14 prospective residents will be prepared
for interviews, and 11 juniors will attend. It has yet to be determined if
other schools will be attending, and we are looking into the possibility of
continuing education credits.
