As an Assistant Professor in orthopedic surgery, perhaps you are in a better
position to clarify the spelling and the actual operation.
We are currently waiting for new X-rays. Girdle was the term used by our
PMR Doc but I defer to your expertise.
I was led to believe that it is an operation done either before hip
replacement was possible or in cases where it is not advisable.
As I understand it, the cut end of the femur is placed in the acetabulum and
a psudarthrosis joint is formed from the tissues shrinking and
re-encapsulating.
I welcome any corrections or clarifications.
e.g, is it the neck of the femur below the head that is placed in the
acetabulum?
Thanks for you help.
