Dear list.
I am a Canadian student studying Clinical Methods in Orthotics and
Prosthetics at George Brown College (Toronto, Canada). I also have a B.Sc.
in Human Kinetics (1998) from the University of Ottawa with experience
working in a Gait & Motion Analysis Laboratory (The Rehabilitation Centre,
Ottawa, Canada).
I will be graduating from George Brown College in May 2000 and hope to
travel abroad to gain experience working in other countries. As is, I need
to intern under a credited Canadian certifee for two years before being
eligible to write the Canadian certification exam. However, from speaking
with others in our field, I have come to the conclusion that gaining
experience in an other country first would be very valuable at many
different levels. I believe that seeing how Orthotists and Prosthetists in
other countries do things and having the chance to exchange different ideas
and methods would be indescribably beneficial for my initiation into the
profession. There is a lot I want to see and learn, and I can't think of no
better way to do so than to travel and work in my chosen profession in
various countries. My interests are in both Orthotics and Prosthetics and as
such, I am looking for opportunities in both areas.
If anyone on the list has any ideas, insight or contacts that might be able
to help me, I would appreciate hearing from you. Please write back to me
personally( <Email Address Redacted> ).
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Al Plouffe B.Sc.
